Louisville, KY – June 3, 2011
ZirMed, a leading provider of revenue cycle management solutions for healthcare providers, announced today that it has been recognized by Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC), an independent, self-governing body which evaluates performance criteria for Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), for achieving the requirements of the EHNAC HIPAA 5010 Readiness Assessment Program. Additionally, ZirMed announced it will be a major participant in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS’) June 15th National 5010 Testing Day.
ZirMed was among the very first industry leaders to receive its EHNAC readiness certification and has invested more than 12,000 hours of 5010 testing and technology upgrade. The robust testing and system enhancements ensure ZirMed and their clients are well positioned to meet the new HIPAA 5010 requirements.
EHNAC recognition indicates that ZirMed has supplied sufficient documentation and demonstrates readiness in the following areas:
- Gap Analysis
- System impact analysis
- Business process impact analysis
- Project Plan
- Timeline for Implementation
- Testing Plans
- Implementation Plan
- Contingency Plan
“The EHNAC acknowledgement provides validation that ZirMed is ready to serve our clients well as they manage the transition from HIPAA 4010 to 5010 standards,” said Kevin Weinstein, VP of Marketing for ZirMed. “ENHAC is one of the most respected organizations in healthcare and we appreciate their acknowledgement of our readiness for this critical issue.”
To further demonstrate its market leadership, ZirMed is participating in CMS’s designated National 5010 Testing day. ZirMed will participate by submitting test files in the 5010 format to Medicare Administrative Contractors (MAC’s). Clients who currently submit their Medicare claims through ZirMed will not need to submit test files directly to their MAC. ZirMed will proactively submit claims to the MACs on behalf of its clients.
“Whether ZirMed clients elect to submit their claims in legacy formats and have ZirMed translate them into the new 5010 format, or whether clients submit directly in the 5010 format, ZirMed is prepared to support them,” noted Weinstein. “We know that in healthcare one size rarely fits all, and that’s why our solution to the 5010 standards combines flexibility for our clients, and rigorous and robust testing for our systems. We want our clients to worry about patient care, not data standards.”
The Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC) is a federally recognized standards development organization and non-profit accrediting body designed to improve transactional quality, operational efficiency and data security in healthcare. EHNAC represents a diverse cross-section of healthcare stakeholders working together to establish sound criteria for self-regulation.
