ZirMed®, a leading health information connectivity and management solutions company, today announced that Betty Gomez has been selected to join the Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI) Board of Directors. Gomez will serve a two-year term beginning January 1, 2014.
As a member of the WEDI Board of Directors, Gomez will help lead the association in furthering its goals of leveraging technology to meet industry needs and improving the efficiency of healthcare information exchange. Gomez plans to utilize her expertise in reform, coding and ICD-10 readiness to help WEDI push for the industry to adopt better information exchange models and efficiencies.

Gomez brings more than 23 years of healthcare industry experience to her role at ZirMed where she leads the company’s regulatory strategy efforts, presently focusing on ICD-10 readiness initiatives and solutions. Prior to her current position, Gomez led ZirMed clients through a successful HIPAA 5010 implementation as the company’s vice president of IT operations and support. Gomez is a recognized expert in the field of healthcare claims and EDI transactions and serves as an industry representative in X12N, CAQH CORE and the Cooperative Exchange. As an active leader in WEDI since 2007, Gomez has presented at several WEDI conferences and contributed to a wide variety of WEDI workgroups, webinars and whitepapers.
