Accelerators of change, machine-learning technology, and implementing effective modeling tools

Happy 2016! This week, Hospitals & Health Networks shared an article highlighting 10 potential accelerators of change in healthcare for the year ahead. The trends reveal that the greatest challenge for providers will be finding the right pace for adapting to new payment models. This can be attributed to pressures such as the proliferation of high-deductible health plans, population health tools, analytical systems for data governance, and increased hospital/health system consolidation.

In other news, our Vice President of Strategy, Dan Ward, was featured in Becker’s Health IT & CIO Review. In his “Health IT Tip of the Day,” Dan sheds light on the advantages of applying machine-learning technology to decode valuable financial data elements and reduce denial rates.

Also this week, our VP of Product, Ric Sinclair, was featured in Becker’s Hospital CFO “RCM Tip of the Day” column, in which he discusses implementing effective modeling tools to gather patients’ historical healthcare payment behavior so providers can best estimate where a patient stands in terms of progress toward meeting their deductible and how the patient’s coverage (and thus expectations) have changed over time.

UPCOMING WEBINAR: Next Tuesday, January 12 from 12:00 – 1:00 pm EST, Teresa Copeland, Director of Managed Care/Contracting at Knoxville Orthopaedic Surgery Center (Ortho Tennessee), will be hosting a webinar alongside HFMA’s Tennessee Chapter. Teresa will share how this surgery center implemented both technology and RCM best practices to increase collections at time of service, improve operational and financial performance, and boost patient satisfaction.
