CMS releases final MU3 rules, but more changes may be coming. Plus: reducing denials and dealing with ICD-10

October 9, 2015

It certainly was a busy week for health IT leaders. Late Tuesday CMS and the Office of the National Coordinator released the final rules for Stage 3 of its Meaningful Use program for EHRs, as well as Stage 2 modifications.

Healthcare Informatics says that while the Stage 2 modifications are truly final, some HIT leaders anticipate more MU3 changes on the horizon. HealthLeaders shared more information on the industry’s mixed reactions to the announcement.

This week our Director of Enterprise Marketing, Stacy State, also contributed a guest blog post to HIT Leaders and News titled, “Predictive modeling, and the elusive 1-2 percent.” In the piece, Stacy describes how hospitals can reduce unnecessary denials and capture unrealized revenue with machine-learning and predictive modeling.

Finally with ICD-10 live for 9 days, how is the transition impacting your organization? Our Senior Business Analyst and Manager of Regulatory Strategy, Crystal Ewing, will be hosting a webinar on October 22 to discuss tips and tricks for getting back on track.
